<I did it!>
That was the first thought as the boy stumbled away from the building. He glanced back for only a moment before he broke into a run.
<I finally did it! I'm free! No more of that damn place. No more bullies. No more beatings! None!>
He cheered internally, a goofy smile appearing on his face as he turned the corner on the street. He hadn't been out of the orphanage much, so he wasn't too sure where he was now. It was.. A strange feeling, being out in the night of the city at this time. He started to glance around the city slowly. He wasn't exactly in the best part of it. Some of the buildings worn down. A few bums on the side of the road.
He stopped in the middle of the road, taking a second to catch his breath. That was till a sudden lightly appeared. A truck had rounded the corner. The driver, not too aware of the child till the last second, blaring his horn at him. The child, too surprised to react thought he was done for. That was till he was suddenly pushed to to the side.
The child landed on the ground with a loud grunt, feeling a bit of weight on top of him. He opened one of his eyes slowly to find.. Nothing. "What the..?" he grumbled out. That's when it appeared. The light around the creature shimmered a little bit before it revealed itself! It was a rather peculiar type creature. More of a monster. It had a dark blue skin. There was white and gold.. Armor? Bone on it? And it seemed to have a long tail-like protrusion.
Well, he did the obvious thing that people would do. He yelled. He screamed like a little girl as he pushed it off his body before he continued running. He turned into a dark alleyway before he seemed to collide into someone else.
"Well hey there little buddy. You seem to be a bit lost." a feminine voice said. The boy scratched his head lightly, glancing up at the person standing above him. It was an older girl. Maybe five or six years older than him. She was clad in a pair of ripped jeans and had an aviation jacket on over her shirt. "My name's Katherine. What's yours?"
It was a few months later. The boy and Katherine were traveling together. The two of them were resting near a campfire not far out of a town in Georgia. Since the boy had ran into her, they started traveling for a while. Hell, she was the first person that was nice to him. Well, relatively nice. Apparently she was being abused by her father so she ran away. They kind of.. Understood what it was like for each other so they hung out. The girl also showed the boy that while he might have been picked on for his feminine appearance, he could use it to his advantage. And that was how he got a change of clothes. He had gotten a dress. He wasn't.. Too sure how to feel about it, sometimes tugging it down slightly. And, as it turned out. Katherine wasn't her real name. It was a fake one she picked after running away. She had urged the boy to do the same.
He glanced to the side. It was still there. As far as he knew, it wasn't real. Katherine couldn't see it. It just seemed to follow him. Maybe only he could see it. It could move things. Pick things up. Hurt people. He just shrugged lightly to himself.
"So did you pick out a new name yet?" the girl asked. He blinked a bit before shaking his head, his hand coming up to scratch at her wavy hair, "Uh.. No, not yet Katherine.." the boy admitted, mumbling softly. She just chuckled out a little bit, the girl reaching over to lay a hand on his back. It was that touch, the feel.
He.. Or, rather she sighed happily. It was nice to relax. She leaned up against the older woman. "Don't worry about it too much. You got all the time in the world." "Alright Katherine. Where are we going anyway?" "To New York City." "Why there?" "I want to make it big, you know? That's the city of dreams. Anything can happen there. And when good happens, we'll be set for life. You want that, right?" "Yeah.." "Alright.. Let's get some sleep."
The young tranny had learned to work with that creature more. It was certainly real. Katherine didn't believe her that things were stolen not by her but, instead a creature that she couldn't see and could also turn invisible. Was kind of a useless ability, come to think of it, if others couldn't see it and it could turn invisible.
Still, they were working on a job now, now that Katherine could trust her more. Katherine distracts the man, and she moves in and steals stuff. She looked around, tugging her dress up slightly. Her chest wasn't really that big so the dress didn't exactly fit perfectly. But that was thrift store clothes for ya.
Interstellar Overdrive - that was it's name. She wasn't sure why, but it felt like it fit. Separated from the girl and went to start wandering around the home itself. The girl, however, noticed that there was sounds coming from one of the rooms. I-.. It sounded like Katherine! She slowly made her way towards the door, peaking through it to see.. The.. Ugly fat man ontop of her friend.. S-.. She didn't know why but she felt mad. Jealous, even! She clenched her fists.. But walked away from the door slowly.
Later at the camp, Katherine glanced towards the girl. "You did good today." she said, offering her friend a smile. However she wasn't having anything of it. She seemed grumpy. "Are you okay?" "No." "Do you wanna talk about it?" ".. No." Katherine sat down next to her partner in crime, a hand coming over to rub at her back. "I-.. I saw you and that guy.. I got really mad. I wanted to punch him." she grumbled out. ".. Oh.. So you.. Saw that?" "Yeah.." "Well.. Look at it this way. I don't really care about them. I care about you. And I get money from them and I use it to help us. You don't want us to be broke, right?" "N-.. No.." "Alright. Well we won't have to worry about it too much. Not until we get to New York." "Promise?" "I promise. Now let's get some sleep. We can get you new clothes in the next town."
"FUCK! What's going on!? What was that?" Katherine shouted. She had a gun in her hand. The young trap was.. Visibly shaken. She was sitting on the ground rocking back and forth. "SHIT! How'd he know that you were out there!? Did he have some weird alarm system in his house or something?" Katherine shouted. "No! I'm telling you! There was something else there. Something lik-" "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR IMAGINARY FRIENDS RIGHT NOW. SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL US! He said he would track us down, AND KILL US!" Katherine interjected. This, of course, only made the girl cry out, covering her ears as she continued to rock back and forth. Of course, the older girl noticed this. She stepped closer to her, crouching down to rub at her back some. "Hey. Heeyy.. Don't cry. Listen, I-.. I'm sure it's fine. We'll be fine. He won't get to us. We're on a train. He's probably long gone b-" she was cut off and the younger girl was sprayed with his friend's blood. Her eyes went wide as she slowly looked up to see Katherine standing there, her mouth wide as she had been impaled in the chest by a large metal object. Not just any object. A lance. This.. It must be the work of the enemy creature. The young girl yelled out as she stood up. Interstellar Overdrive appeared behind her, it's tail driving towards the other which made it move back.
The man climbed down from the roof of the car. "Hm. So you have a stand too, you little brat? Ehhh?" The girl was shaking a little bit. She was rather terrified. "I-.. Wh-. You mean th-.. The creatures?" "EHHH? You dumb as your dead friend girl?" he asked as his stand raised his lance. Anger boiled within the girl, <He.. He killed her. He will have to pay.> she thought. He moved to drive it towards the girl but her stand pushed her out of the way again. She grunted out as she steadied herself. "I would explain them more to you, but I shouldn't waste my breath! You won't be alive long anyway! Move it, Lancelot! Skewer the brat!"
The mighty armored stand moved forward to thrust it's lance forward once more, but the young girl instinctively thrust her hand towards it! It was at that moment, she knew what to do. She shouted out, "INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE!" her stand came to life! Light started to emanate from the small stand before it charged towards the large armored one. It's fist impacted with it's chest. It didn't appear like it did too much damage, however. the light seemed to burn the stand.
The man seemed to have an identical burn on his chest now. Freaking out as he started to pat at his chest wildly, "SON OF A BITCH!" he shouted before slamming his foot down. "Kill her! Kill her! KILL HER! KILL HE-" A shot rang out, cutting the man off. The girl looked to the side. It was Katherine. The larger stand seemed to disappear as the man stumbled back and fell out of the train car.
"Katherine!" she shouted as she moved over to her, tears starting to roll down her face. "W-we have.. Enough money to get you into a hospital, right? You'll be okay, right?" "Hey.. Listen.. I am not gonna make it. You should.. Take our money. Keep traveling." "N-.. No. We need that money. You're gonna be big in New York. Right?" "No.. Listen.. When you pick a name.. Just.. Make it a good one. Do what you want in your life. Be big enough for the both of us. I love you, kiddo." Katherine said, smiling as she closed her eyes before she went limp.
The girl seemed to lean over her body, clutching her tightly as she continued to cry. "I will.. I-.. I will."
It had been a year since that fateful day. A familiar-looking figure stepped off of a bus in New York. clothed in boots, a black dress, and an aviation jacket that had been patched up in the back! The dark skin and hair with a single streak of red color in her bangs looked familiar! Yes, it was the girl! Only she had taken up her friend's name. Being in a dress now just felt.. Right to her. She was almost glad her friend had convinced her to do it in the past. "Well.. We're finally here." she muttered to herself.
".. Now what?"
