It'd been decades since she last saw the city. So much had changed in, to her, so little time. Years stopped meaning anything to the vampiress after she turned. Being alive for centuries tended to do that. She'd spent a few months after her escape from the museum getting used to things. The new technology. The new fashion. Looking down at her own attire, it was much different than she was used to wearing back before she slumbered. Light blue, near gray jeans and a blue shirt. On her feet were some basic running shoes. It was all practical but she wouldn't call it stylish. Glancing around, the vampiress took in the sights, stopping in front of an alleyway.
It was night. She didn't NEED to walk around at night anymore...not since the late 30's. But sunlight still had an effect on her, and she preferred moving at night....besides the air was nice a cool. As she was about to continue walking, she felt an arm wrap around her neck as she was suddenly dragged into the alleyway. Next thing the vampiress knew she was pushed against a wall with a gun aimed at her face. "Alright lady...hand over anything valuable...." her assailant said.
She stared for a moment. Wow, how careless she had been. She had been so occupied in her own thoughts that she hadn't sensed this man's approach from behind her. Not that he knew it, but she had to give him kudos for managing to sneak up on something that preyed on humans on a regular basis. She needed get back into the swing of things. All that sleeping had made her rusty. Having spend decades in that coma-like state had put a damper on most of the abilities she had gained throughout the years. She was weaker than she'd ever been in a long while. Her sense dulled a bit.
But that would not save the man from the humiliation he was about to receive.
Suddenly smiling, the woman chuckled at his words. "Oh my...you're adorable..." she murmured. This caused the man to become agitated, the gun being pushed against her temple. "I'm not going to ask again bitch." Rachael narrowed her eyes, one hand moving to swat the gun effortlessly away from her head, while the other came up to make a quick jab with her fingers, aimed for his throat. The man backed off, coughing as he tried to regain normal breathing. He quickly brought up the pistol and fired.....but he missed. With unnatural agility, the vampiress had moved her head, the bullet harmlessly embedding itself into the brick wall behind her. Taking a step forward, the woman swung her fist. The man reeled back, narrowly avoiding the fist. A grin had started to form on his face, the crook planning on firing another round....Before he was suddenly struck anyways. Blood shot from his busted nose as he staggered back into the wall opposite of Rachael.
Stunned, he had no idea how she managed that. It was like....she hit him even when she didn't. It didn't make sense. As he was trying to work out what exactly happened, the woman had begun to advance, a smirk on her face. Angered, the man quickly raised the revolver and fired at her face. No human could react fast enough. And sure enough her head jerked back. The man sighed, rubbing his face. "Stupid bit-"
He was cut off as Rachael suddenly leaned forward. Confused, the man looked for a bullet wound. He shot her! He shot her......But he didn't. Caught between the woman's teeth was his bullet. The man's eyes widened, fear growing as he noticed that her teeth...were not normal. Her canines were larger than a normal human's. And her once icey blue eyes were now blood red. What the hell was he dealing with here?!
Closing her mouth, the vampiress rolled the bullet around within for a bit, before spitting it out. It embedded itself in the wall next to the mugger's head. He slowly slid down the wall, staring at her in fear. Why couldn't he move? Was she going to kill him? This wasn't real, it had to be a nightmare. Raising her hand, Rachael gave him a menacing grin as she spoke: "Nighty night~"
With a swing of her fist, once more without even touching the man, she knocked him unconscious. With him now out cold, she reached down and felt around his pockets. Finding a wallet, she withdrew what money he had in it. Looking at the ID, she chuckled. If she ever met him again, she could probably give him a good scare by calling him by name. Replacing the wallet back where she found it, she pocketed the money and hurried along. She could hear a commotion outside the alleyway. It wouldn't be long before the police showed up. She didn't feel like answering questions tonight. The alley was a dead end for normal humans, but for creatures like her, not so. Leaping up, she placed a foot on the wall to her left, then quickly pushed off, propelling herself up to the roof of the building ahead of her.
Walking along to the edge of said building, she looked up at the sky. "I need to get a proper foothold in the city....Maybe I need to start recruiting some....'volunteers'. " she mused, pacing around the building. Pulling out a device from her back pocket, she dialed a few numbers on it. She'd been told it was a 'mobile-phone'. Quite an advancement from the phones they had before she went to sleep. After a few rings, a male voice spoke up on the other end. "Hello."
"It's me....Do you know of any....Ne'erdowells I could....'Conscript' for a better cause~" she asked, grinning.
"Finally ready to make a new home? I'll see what I can find out Lady Cambria...." the voice said. The vampiress smiled. "Thank you Gregory. I'll return in a while....I'm going to stroll around some more..."
With that she hung up and pocketed the phone. She had some work to do if she was going to make up for lost time. Making her way down to street level, Rachael began looking around. After all that excitement....She could use a drink.
