History:
Baron has had a short, yet eventful life thus far, born a stray his first few months of life were guaranteed to be difficult as the runt of the litter Baron had to fight just to get enough milk to survive and fight he did scrapping constantly with his larger brothers he would managed to frustrate them enough that they would allow him to feed slightly better than a normal runt might simply to get him to leave them alone, once he was strong enough to no longer need his mother's milk Baron promptly set out on his own not wanting any part of having to compete with his brothers for food.
After departing his litter Baron wandered the streets in search of a source of food, by chance he encountered a trio of raccoons, he knew from his mother's words that the large rodents feared felines and with this in mind he sought to claim the trash can that they had opened and begun to disassemble, the raccoons while initially a bit fearful of the scent of a cat quickly noted that he was a very SMALL cat, certainly much smaller than any of them.
Despite their lack of fear Baron tried his best to scare them off puffing himself up as large as he could and letting out a mighty hiss, the trio were amused by his attempt, initially intending to simply send him packing the eldest raccoon had a better idea, he suggested that Baron join them, turn the trio into a quartet. With a cat at there side the raccoon brothers would have less to fear from other cats once he was fully grown and in trade the trio would ensure that Baron actually got a chance to grow.
The arrangement worked out quite well for everyone, under the guidance of the raccoon brothers Baron learned all of the skills necessary to survive on the streets of new york and just as promised as he grew he would fend off other cats, while still a bit on the small side Baron possessed an indomitable spirit in battle, a fearlessness that terrified most other cats as he would come at them with reckless abandon.
As time went on Baron slowly moved from simply apart of the quartet to the unofficial leader, he was of them all the best fighter and with the guidance of the elder raccoon understood the streets just as well as any raccoon, with Baron at the helm of the group they began to take others under their banner, a few birds, some squirrels, more raccoons, all united under the common and simple goal. Survival.
While the others found a live out on the streets to be ideal Baron had his sights set higher, he often enjoyed spending time in and around human electronics shops, the buildings that had the curious picture boxes that showed him the world beyond the streets, that showed him how humans ruled their kingdoms. He was the ruler of the streets animals (or at least a subset of them) and thus he needed a palace of his own.
The gang often made use of abandoned warehouses but those were not palaces, they were devoid of any of the amenities he saw on the picture boxes, at BEST they had better spots for sleeping, at worst drunk humans. Baron made a decision one day after returning to the warehouse, he would simply CLAIM a human home as his own, he often saw that house animals appeared to have tamed humans to hunt FOR them, he was certain that he the King of the Streets, could do the same.
His first few attempts were… not ideal, evidently not all humans respected their betters, he was gracing THEM with his presence and they dared to chase him out of his claimed lands with brooms? Finally he located what he considered to be the best of the homes he would lay claim to, upon arrival there was no Human which made settling in all the easier and when the Human finally DID return he had the intelligence to understand his position and accept that Baron had claimed his land for himself, it was a smaller home than some of the others but more ideally located to some of the standard hunting areas for the Gang.
As time went on Baron became curious of what his Human did while not at home, as a benevolent ruler he wanted to ensure that his human, just like his underlings in the Gang, was not up to anything that would bring trouble, as he followed his Human he noticed that the man was capable of some truly strange feats, things that Baron had never seen beast nor man accomplish, he could quite literally bend flames to his will and even more curiously he could summon some sort of ethereal human-like being, a creature that from what he had seen on the picture boxes(‘televisions’ as he learned from his human) should be purely fiction.
But it was quite real and quite powerful. Quite impressed with his humans powers Baron knew what he needed to do next, if one of his subordinates possessed a power such as this then obviously it was something within his own capacity, the difficulty was however actually trying to figure out HOW to do it, he spent more time watching his Human studying how he summoned the creature and bent the flames to his will, during a particularly frustrating day of not successfully replicating the powers his human possessed, a large dog approached Baron from behind and dared to try and remove Baron from where he had perched to watch his Human as it was ‘his’ territory.
Baron took exception to the dog laying claim to a location so near to Baron’s own home and a fight broke out, the dog however held a clear advantage in size and power, once again Baron found himself falling back onto the only thing the dog could not out do him in. Spirit. Backed into a corner Baron decided to make his stand, he stepped forward and let out a loud yowl, only the yowl was accompanied by something much more, a thunderous roar that sent the dog running, to his surprise Baron looked up to see a ethereal creature above him, a Great Cat, the ethereal Tiger appeared tethered to him and it was then that Baron realized he had accomplished his goal.
That night Baron would reward his human handsomely, TWO whole rats delivered right to the table fresh and ready for consumption, to his surprise his human did not take the delivery as well as he had expected. In hindsight he should have realized, Cliff Slade was not a human who needed or likely wanted to be provided for, he, much like his master Baron, was too proud.
