As he stopped to catch his breath, he looked back. The individual in question was not the hero of our story, but neither was he of any particular consequence. He was a vampire, who happened to be feeding in the wrong place at the wrong time. "If I can just get back to the complex, Remmy can take care of these bastards!" he would mutter under his breath. This particular vampire, who remains of littler consequence and thusly shall remain unnamed, had managed to successfully disengage himself from a pair of hunters.
Before he could manage this feat, he was bloodied and rendered with grievous injuries. Nevertheless, despite being an arm and a lung down, he was moving and running and keeping his distance. A statement to the limitless endurance of a vampire, hell if he had more time he could focus on healing and be rid of these trifle wounds within a minute. It was a shame he had to be so informative when nobody was around.
"The complex, you say? And where might this complex be?" called out a voice, far more heroic than that of this pathetic vampire scum, who merely responded with a timid, "Oh shit..."
The only thing keeping the vampire alive was a new bargaining chip, which, while valuable, was not valuable enough to play games with. He knew this as he would turn to face the hunters once again. This is what he got for coming to a back alley as an escape route. "Y-y-y-you really wanna know? My man Remmy will probably just rip you to pieces if I take you there, and even if he doesn't there are dozens of vampires on site! I've got to get back soon anyways, so if you kill me, they'll come looking!"
"Yeahyeahyeah, shut the fuck up, and take us there so I can add this 'Complex' to the list of vampire dens I've cleared out," spoke the voice. From the shadows emerged a young and fit man with black hair and white bangs wearing a pair of sunglasses. This young man, was in fact the hero of this story, and he was just about ready to explode from excitement. This vampire had information on another den, which meant that he could brag about yet another one he was responsible for. His excitement looked like he was just about out of patience, which made him look intimidating as all hell, his eager gaze was terrifying to the vampire who was just attempting a bluff of his own.
Beside him, emerged another male, though this was also a man of little consequence. For the time being though, he did have a name and a face. He was Floyd Amaranth, a young man who wore a fancy, as though he was on a date in Italy before arriving, with blonde hair and blue eyes. "Calm down, Lexx. If he has a heart attack we'll have to wait for his buddies to come looking, and I just left Eliza at the restaurant," he would plead. "Dude, Eliza is a bimbo and we both know it," replied Lexx, aforementioned man of dual-hued tresses.
The vampire would make an effort to calm himself down and focus on regenerating as he spoke. "Y-you want to know where it is then? Fine... I-i'll tell you..." he would try and speak calmly, though failing to do so. His wounds began to close up and regenerate noticeably, which the hunters took notice of with little issue. That's the thing about healing gaping wounds, people tend to notice when they start to gape less.
Suddenly, Lexx was all up in the vampire's face, holding an uncertain object, centimeters from his throat, the only hint being an electric buzzing noise akin to a circle saw spinning freely. "I'll let you keep regenerating, right as soon as you take me to your goddamned leader... You hear me? Keep fucking around, and I'll make my buddy Floyd here wait," he would whisper, grinning with an excited look in his eyes, yet strangely controlled breathing backing his words.
The vampire would break into a cold sweat, his concentration broken, as was what remained of his fragile will. "A-Alright."
The buzzing sound would stop a second later, and the vampire, completely and utterly defeated, would turn and lead the two hunters to his den. It was interesting how little loyalty vampire scum held in regards to one another. As if they were always looking for a good reason to stab the other guy in the back.
It would be a few blocks of walking, but the complex wasn't very hard to find. It was a towering apartment building, probably home to at least 20 or so homes, two per floor. "Thanks. I'll leave you be now," he would say with a smirk, walking on past him.
The vampire could now get a clear look at the weapon which cost him his arm. A deadly instrument which so easily removed a primary grasping limb would certainly be imposing and... "Is... Is that a pinwheel?" the vampire would inquire, dumbfounded at a glimpse.
Suddenly several holes would fill his body, and begin to expand. The fellow behind him a man who he didn't even remember anymore, Floyd, had attacked instead. "But... You said..." the vampire would begin to complain, turning his head around, before another hole was shot into his head, and expanded to maximum size. "I didn't say a damn thing. You're vampire scum, and will be dealt with as such," he would say, flipping a quarter into the air casually, walking past with a satisfied smile on his face. The now-useless remains of the vampire would fall over and sort of turn into sludge, basically, bits of bone and flesh remaining but forming a puddle with no real shape.
Inside the complex, Lexx would look back and chuckle, "You've just been itching to try out those new coin tricks you learned, haven't you?" Floyd would chuckle a bit himself, "Not everyone just picked a specialization immediately like you did, right? Let a guy have his..." Suddenly his head would be removed, and squished against a wall several feet to the left. The unceremonious death was punctuated by uproarious laughter from numerous sources.
"Welcome to the complex, puny mortals!" laughed the man who was clearly the head honcho, judging by his sizable musculature, and large fangs. "That was... my hunting partner..." Lexx would mention, taking a deep breath to keep himself calm, "Alright, so I take it you're this 'Remmy' guy your peon was mentioning earlier?"
"Indeed, mortal! Very observant are you? I am called Remmy, as you have presumed!" spoke the rather hammy vampire, "Your ability to remain detached to the situation shows me that you're quite a veteran to this game, yes?" The remaining vampire hunter would look up and reply, "Yeah, I suppose you could say that. I've certainly got a great many of your kin's deaths on my hands."
The head vampire would laugh more loudly than before, "Bold in the face of your imminent demise! The entertainment value more than makes up for the loss of that puny whelp your 'Hunting Partner' slaughtered mercilessly! Listen, how about I make you one of my thralls, and you can serve me for all eternity? Gotta say, it's a pretty sweet deal considering the alternative, don't you you think?"
"Good God you're long winded aren't you?" Lexx would speak up, flicking his wrists, sending out a pair of buzzing projectiles, which whizzed through the air and beheaded a good number of the vampire thralls and lesser vampires in the lobby, all of whom were still shrouded in shadows and basically of no consequence. The two projectiles stuck firmly into opposite walls, a pair of pinwheels with blades covered in vampire blood. "If you've got enough energy to talk, you've got enough energy to fight!"
"Interesting! The fire in your eyes is only intensifying in the face of death!" the boss vampire would wave his hands, and odd ripples would flow out of it, first in an aura around his body, and then in elongated tendrils, by the looks of it. They reached out towards him, and Lexx would jump away from it, out of instinct more than anything. However, he was caught from behind and entangled in a metallic sensation.
"You've been captured by my special power, Alice in Chains!" from Remmy's standpoint, he was watching a giant mechanical man with numerous chains extending from him, wrapping around and binding up his foe. From Lexx's standpoint, he was bound up by translucent extensions which only vaguely appeared visible at all, like a ghost. "With this power I'll tear you to shreds! I killed your partner quickly, but I'll take my time with you!"
The young vampire hunter would struggle violently against the chains. "You've got quite the ability here! These are some strong bindings, I could normally break a metal chain with no problems!"
"These chains are stronger than any metal you've come across! They are an extention of my body, which is harder than steel!" the uproariously loud vampire would proclaim!
Lexx would be slammed into walls and the ceiling, and flailed about left and right many times. He balanced out his breathing to harden his body to the best of his abilities, Hamon flowed through his body to make his muscles more stiff. He needed to think though, otherwise he'd break before he could get out of this situation. This ability was totally unique to him, and the young vampire hunter couldn't see more than the vague outline of the tendrils and the aura that was being emitted by the Remmy However something that the all-too-willing-to-reveal-his-power's-secrets vampire said out loud... something that seemed pretty much like a get out of jail free pass.
"Alright then, it's just an extension of yourself, huh?" he would mutter, as he was slammed into another wall. Lexx would grin widely and brace his hand against a wall and push off, using a great deal of power to launch himself away. He would channel his Hamon into the chains that were binding him, causing an electric feedback which caused the rapid decay of the chains. The Hamon channeled down the chains like a fuse and struck the aura, causing the head vampire to panickingly put away his power, but a bit too late as he was now missing chunks off of his back. "What is this bullshit! My power is unstoppable!" Remmy would shout in rage!
Lexx would land on his feet in a crouched position, akin to a big cat ready to pounce. "Jackpot!" he would shout, spotting an opening, and pulling out a few pinwheels in each hand and exhaling Hamon into them, causing the wheels to spin rapidly and spark with energy, forming an aura of a blueish-grey-white coloration. "Ghost White Overdrive!" he would shout aloud, before throwing four of the six pinwheels at Remmy.
The vampire would weave between them with skill and reflexes, but he was pushed to continue reacting faster than he could think by Lexx, who was attacking with the deadly pinwheels he was holding in his hands, spinning and enhanced with Hamon to an extreme that Remmy would fear by instinct. The head vampire, the only vampire in the room at this point, would leap up into the air, and attach chains to the walls in order to gain optimal distance from the young hunter. "Hehe... Hehehe.... Gotcha," Lexx spoke up, brushing his white bangs out from in front of his eyes, and pushing up his now crooked and cracked sunglasses.
The vampire would blink and turn his head to see the buzzing projectiles having turned a great many degress, and the thin bases of them puncturing his aura and gauging massive holes in him, one landing in the head of the aura, and expanding. The aura fizzled out as a matching hole would form in his head, and he was rendered utterly destroyed, his voice calling out a feint and defeated, "What... the actual... hell..." With that Remmy was defeated, and Lexx stood victorious, if a bit worse for wear. A whole den of vampires, and none posed a threat on its own... Yet this Remmy, with a power unprecedented by any vampires before him on record, gave him the toughest fight he's had since he'd just been learning Hamon. A monster above monsters... but its power was not like that of the monsters, but one akin to some other hunters he'd met in the past. Those nearly invisible forces which affect reality, the ghostly ripples, so similar to Hamon, but so far away at the same time.
Floyd was dead on account of a miscalculation, the miscalculation that they'd seen all there was to see in this game. Lexx, honoring his memory, would have to get good enough to take this on himself, and kill enough for the both of them. "Don't worry Floyd. I'll make sure Elena knows what went down here," the man with two-colored hair would mention in passing as he left.
