APPEARANCE |
Poison DeVille is a transwoman whose most notable features are her very long, spiky, pink hair and black peaked cap with chain link design. Her body is noticeably feminine with large breasts and wide hips, but her toned arms and muscles are a result of her physical training. There aren't many marks or scars on her body apart from very subtle, faded ones under her breasts. On her lower back is a black tribal tattoo resembling a mass of vines with the word "Devil" in stylized font at its center. There is also a tattoo of a bright pink, horned skull with two, black pitchforks evocative of a skull-and-crossbones behind her left shoulder and a small, red rose tattooed on her right ankle.
Both her manner of dress and her conduct are intentionally provocative, usually wearing a pair of denim Daisy Dukes and a white, midriff-baring tank top with red high heels. She's also been known to enjoy heeled sandals, leather boots, various miniskirts, a short leather jacket, stockings, and jeans of varying lengths and makes. Lipstick coats her thick lips, favoring pink and red. Her nails are almost always manicured or pedicured and painted, her favored colors being pink, blue, red, black, and white. Her long lashes usually have a layer of mascara on them, though she's careful not to use too much makeup. Years of paying close attention to her skincare have made her skin smooth, soft, and free of blemishes.
Accessories include a black leather collar around her neck, an arm and wristband worn on the right arm, and a bracelet on her left wrist. Though difficult to see under her hair, her ears are pierced with dangling diamond earrings on each lobe and diamond studs right beside them. Her tongue has a platinum barbell piercing through it as well. She commonly wears a platinum toe ring on her right foot, only visible when wearing sandals or barefoot. A pair of handcuffs and a riding crop usually complete the ensemble. Sometimes, she carries a black purse with a Colt King Cobra with an 8 inch barrel inside. When fully loaded, the revolver holds a total of six .357 Magnum bullets.

HISTORY |
"Who cares about the past!? Just focus on what's coming next!" — Poison DeVille
Born Coupe DeVille, Poison grew up in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens, New York. As a child, she attended P.S. 069 Jackson Heights School. An unruly child, Coupe skipped class, performed poorly in school, often got into fights, and spent a large amount of time in detention. Part of this was due to Coupe's situation at home with an abusive father and an alcoholic mother, the latter of whom died in a mugging when Coupe was ten.
The physical and mental abuse his mother suffered at home largely transferred to Coupe after the accident as her father began to spiral further from the loss of his wife. Coupe, whose gender dysphoria became more pronounced as puberty approached, experimented in crossdressing whenever possible. However, her effeminate mannerisms didn't escape the notice of other students, becoming an easy target for bullying.
To deal with the stress, Coupe took up smoking and drinking from a young age. Since the bullying was becoming more and more unbearable, she started adapting whatever techniques she could into a self-taught, acrobatic combat style. Coupe focused on agility, takedowns, kicks, and hitting weak points more than brute strength and power. It proved fairly effective throughout her tenure at Intermediate School 230Q.
Gaining a bad reputation off the many victories, Coupe entered Newtown High School known as a reckless, underachieving delinquent. Proud of this achievement, she decided to spend as much time away from her father and made money on her own by joining a fight club organized by her peers. This helped perfect her fighting style and hone her instincts.
Coupe's crossdressing got out in her second year of high school and became public knowledge. Though initially humiliated, she eventually decided to take ownership of it, openly and publicly dressing however she wanted and promising a vicious beatdown to anyone who tried to say anything against it. She eventually made good on that promise by assaulting several students who tried to attack her.
Fed up with school, Coupe dropped out of school without a diploma or G.E.D. Subsequently kicked out of her home by her father, she used what money she'd saved up to rent a shitty apartment in Rockaway. Between various short-lived jobs, petty theft, and some illicit activities on the side, Coupe continued to diligently build herself up and pay for rent, food, booze, cigarettes, and hormone treatments.
One day, an aspiring director took notice of her and offered her a different sort of career making films. Taking the name Poison DeVille, she found herself able to move into a better part of Rockaway, as well as able to afford a few cosmetic surgeries. Unfortunately, she also developed a substance abuse habit, which led to her contracting the HIV virus.
Learning that she'd contracted a deadly disease, Poison freaked out. First, she trashed her apartment, then she found and beat the "friend" she'd shared the needle with (who confessed to knowing, but prioritizing the high over her safety). For about three days, she subsisted on a diet of hot dogs and beer. She wound up on her father's doorstep in a vain attempt to make peace with the only family she had. It didn't work, and she ended up hating him more.
At her wit's end, Poison even considered suicide as an option over the prospect of living with AIDS. As she stumbled home that night, a man tackled and pressed her against an alley wall. A gun pressed to her head, he forced her to hand over her purse and used a knife to slice her shirt. However, when he removed her pants, he reacted with disgust, turning the gun against her in anger. She tried to run, taking a bullet to the back of her leg.
Moments away from being murdered, Poison realized that she didn't want to die at all. She hoped for more time, refusing to lie down and die without a fight. Suddenly, she found the drunken haze lifting from her mind, and in her hand a length of something like rope. Realizing it was some sort of weapon she didn't possess before, she turned suddenly and lashed the whip against her assailant's face and chest, slicing him.
The man shot wildly into the alley, screaming in pain as his blood felt as though it were burning. He couldn't catch his breath, his movements became sluggish, and his vision blurred. Poison struck again, wrapping his hand in the thorny vine and puncturing it, then squeezing it until he let go his weapon. The attacker defeated, Poison took her purse back, as well as the injured man's clothing to replace what he destroyed.
After the incident, the whip disappeared. Poison found herself unable to enjoy alcohol and cocaine anymore, eventually selling it off. On her next visit to the doctor, she discovered that her blood was entirely free of the HIV virus. Refusing to be kept for additional testing, she decided to try to summon the whip again, thinking back to her mental state in the alley.
Not only did it work, Poison discovered that her whip could also bear a delicious fruit. Deciding it best to keep her power a secret (and avoid hospitals if possible), she tried to settle back into her old life. It was impossible, however, to prove that she was cured of HIV without extensive medical testing. Instead, she wound up looking for more information on the mysterious powers she now possessed.
In 1988, the year after her Stand awakened, Poison decided to join the Speedwagon Foundation's program for inexperienced and concerned Stand users. She also figured that employment by the Foundation, which could actually understand and explained what was going on with her, would be preferable to anything else she could try.

TECHNIQUES |

Poisonous Thorns
Every Rose Has Its Thorn manifests as a scourge-like whip made from multicolored vines that the user can manipulate at her will. The lash of the whip is comparable to a sword’s slash, but the true danger lies in the poisons secreted by the thorns.
These poisons can impair breathing, movement, and vision, and cause a burning sensation in the blood. Over time, they can cause a high fever, stomach issues such as vomiting and diarrhea, and ultimately death if not treated.
Poison herself is immune to her ability, carrying the poison within her bloodstream. This also grants her immunity to poison and illness and makes her skin give off a subtle, natural pheromone.
As an unexpected downside, Poison is resistant to highs from recreational drugs, alcohol, and anesthesia. It takes an inordinate amount for any of these to take effect.
Direct contact with her blood is dangerous for this reason, but an antidote to the Stand's poison can be made from it with the correct tools. The immunity to disease and poisons cannot be passed on, as this is an effect of the Stand protecting its user.
Poison can also choose grow sweet-tasting rose hips upon the whip, which contain a natural antidote to her poison. Because she is already immune to the poisons and carries it within her blood, the fruit does not benefit Poison.

APPEARANCE
Typically, Every Rose Has Its Thorn manifests as multiple, multicolored, thorn-covered vines that wrap around Poison’s right arm. While similar in appearance to another Stand, Hermit Purple, it can spread and blossom, forming large, thorny walls of vines.
In its Devil Woman form, it resembles a massive, pink, blue, and yellow rose with green, purple, and blue-colored, tentacle-like thorny vines spread into the ground. Poison is encased within the central flower, and a veritable forest of vines can be created around her, answering the will of the Stand user.

TRUMP CARD
Devil Woman (デビル・ウーマン)
While Every Rose Has Its Thorn can be wielded as a simple poisonous whip, its true power stems from its ability to grow and spread across an area.
This is useful for offense, as the vines exit the earth at a high enough speed to impale an opponent, but they can also form a defensive wall around the Stand user.
When Devil Woman activates, it encases its user in a rose-like flower that allows her to psychically sense enemies near the vines and react as though the Stand were a part of her physical body.
The vines become as sharp, poisonous arms and legs, and to harm them is to harm the Stand user.
Technique:
Devil Woman requires four turns to grow to full power, but if it is escaped or the "root" vines are cut from Poison's hands within that time, the technique is cancelled. On turn four, Devil Woman reaches full strength and ends.
During the first turn, the vines strike at 25%, the second turn, 50%, the third turn, 100%, and the final turn 200%. This gives the technique four chances to strike with increasingly high damage.
This means that it can do as little as 25% damage once, or as much as 375% damage over the course of four turns.
The vines have a range of several dozen meters, making them highly dangerous. However, the user cannot move from the central flower nor can the central flower move. If one cannot remove the vines from Poison's hands, they could try to leave her range altogether.
The increasing psychic link to the vines offers greater offense and the poisons secreted from the thorns add greater potency. This said, only two of the vines may act as "hands" to ensnare or entangle an opponent, as more than that would strain Poison's mental focus.
Poison can sever the psychic link and halt the technique at will. If she does this, she cannot attempt Devil Woman again for the duration of the battle.
